Open Office, the free open source application suite announced a release party on October 13th this year, 2008. In case you have been living in a cave, Openoffice is the alternative to Microsoft’s version of Office which is NOT free. OpenOffice  supports the Open Document Format for data interchange as its default file format, as well as Microsoft Office 97-2003 formats, and has limited but useful capability opening Microsoft Office 2007 documents.
